NJ Governor Signs Law Banning “Ghost Guns”

On November 8, 2018, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy signed a new gun control law that bans “ghost guns.” This new law, under N.J.S. 2C:39-9(k), criminalizes firearm parts that do not have serial numbers and are untraceable, such as 3-D printable parts.

A violation of 2C:39-9(k) is serious as it is considered a third degree offense. A conviction could mean up to 5 years in prison.
