Previously, people charged with driving without insurance (39:6B-2) faced serious consequences in New Jersey. The law used to require a mandatory 1 year loss of license, even for a first offense.

The good news is that the law was recently amended. In certain cases, if you were ticketed for driving without insurance but you are able to get insurance coverage after the fact and bring proof to court, the judge can waive the 1 year license suspension.

If you are charged with driving without insurance, it is important to speak to an attorney today to discuss the case and if the new changes apply to you.
