Bergen County Drunk Driving Holiday Crackdown

The New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety has announced the grant recipients for the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” 2016 holiday season crackdown on intoxicated driving.

In Bergen County alone, 14 police departments have received grants to step up patrols during the holidays. The police departments that have received these grants in Bergen County are: Cliffside Park, Edgewater, Elmwood Park, Franklin Lakes, Garfield, Hillsdale, Lodi, Mahwah, Montvale, Ramsey, Ridgefield Park, Saddle River, South Hackensack, and Woodcliff Lake.

Police may employ various methods to catch drunk drivers. The most well-known method includes sobriety checkpoints/roadblocks. Police departments may also increase the amount of officers on patrol in order to “saturate” an area to detect drunk drivers on the road.

If you are accused of intoxicated driving, it is critical to hire an attorney who knows how to fight checkpoints, roadblocks, as well as normal roadside stops.

Attorney Jason T. Komninos has lectured on behalf of the New Jersey State Bar Association on the topic of checkpoints and roadblocks. In addition, Mr. Komninos is a Qualified Standardized Field Sobriety Practitioner, which means he has received the same training in drunk driving detection as the police.

Mr. Komninos provides free consultations and can be reached at 201-343-4622.
